Over many years agri-training has been conducted with cacao farmers on the island of Savai’i in Samoa by the GAP team and our partner organisation SPS Biota, and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The training has involved both classroom learning and on-farm practical learning. The focus has been on improving the production and health of cacao trees, through correct pruning techniques, propagation, how to control pests and diseases, and how best to mitigate and then respond when disasters strike.
